Campus Technology Supervisor (Help Desk)

The Campus Technology Supervisor plays a key hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day technology operations across our North American campuses. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality end-user support, maintaining classroom and lab environments, and ensuring that campus IT infrastructure (networks, labs, A/V, and user systems) is secure, reliable, and responsive to the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

This role serves as the front-line leader for IT support on campus and coordinates closely with centralized IT, external vendors, and academic stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of technical services.

Campus Technology Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities

  • End-User Support & Service Delivery
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for campus IT support, including managing help desk requests, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and ensuring timely resolution.
    • Provide first and second-level support for desktops, laptops, printers, classroom technology, and peripheral devices.
    • Ensure effective support for classroom and lab environments, including configuration and maintenance of A/V and instructional equipment.
    • Create and maintain user support guides, training materials, and self-service documentation.
    • Act as a customer service ambassador, fostering a responsive and supportive IT culture on campus.
  • Lab & Classroom Technology Management
    • Build, manage, and deploy Standard Operating Environments (SOEs) for student labs using tools such as SCCM, Jamf Pro, or equivalent.
    • Oversee the setup, testing, and maintenance of software and hardware in student computer labs and studio environments.
    • Work with faculty and instructional teams to ensure teaching environments are equipped and functional.
  • Campus Infrastructure Oversight
    • Support the operation and maintenance of campus networks (LAN/Wi-Fi), printers, and telecommunication systems.
    • Coordinate local device and system configurations (e.g., imaging, updates, printers, security policies).
    • Provide on-site assistance during network, power, or system outages; escalate to corporate IT when needed.
    • Monitor local backup systems, patch compliance, and endpoint security.
  • Collaboration & Coordination
    • Work closely with the Director of IT, Campus Directors, and Corporate IT to align on IT policies, standards, and project rollouts.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware procurement, installations, and repairs.
    • Support local execution of national technology initiatives and projects (e.g., hardware refresh, system migrations).
  • Asset Management & Procurement
    • Track campus IT inventory including computers, printers, A/V equipment, and networking gear.
    • Assist in procurement and deployment planning for new hardware and software based on campus needs.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of all IT assets and configurations.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure adherence to IT policies, security protocols, and privacy regulations.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
    • Support audits or compliance efforts by providing documentation and access to systems as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Campus Technology Supervisor Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Required:

  • Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive IT experience
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, end-user systems, and enterprise technologies.
  • Familiarity with educational technology environments and audio engineering systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage people, priorities, and projects.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines and managing competing tasks.
  • Proficient with common enterprise software, operating systems, and endpoint management tools.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and supporting diverse user groups.
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Experience supporting IT in higher education or campus-based environments.
  • Familiarity with platforms and tools used at SAE Institute (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Jamf Pro, SCCM, LMS/SIS platforms).

  • Experienced in administering enterprise productivity, collaboration, and identity platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure AD).
  • Skilled in network configuration, security management, and account provisioning.
  • Comfortable with scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Able to assist with light development and maintenance of internal tools using Python and JavaScript

Campus Technology Supervisor Additional Information

This is a full time campus, on site, based position working out of the SAE Nashville campus. Some travel may be required.

Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
